Mark grew up spending his summers in Honduras helping out on his grandparents’ ranch. He first truly got into plants by volunteering on farms in the United States. After that experience and working at his first botanic garden in North Carolina, he eventually went to study horticulture in the Netherlands, where he specialized in applied plant research and conducted multiple research projects with fellow students. Additionally, Mark has worked on horticulture and reforestation projects in both South Africa and Thailand. After graduating, Mark worked as a freelance landscaper and traveled widely. He is now excited to get back into horticulture full time at the Arboretum.
