The Birch Overlook venue encompasses the half of the Event Lawn that is immediately adjacent to the Overlook Pavilion and the Childhood’s Gate Children’s Garden.

The largest event space in the gardens, occupying slightly more than an acre at the heart of the botanic gardens. Ideal for large events, including festivals, wedding ceremonies, banquets, and conference receptions.

The North Terrace is a paved event space that is defined by tall, yellow stucco walls. It can be used (tented or un-tented) for semi-private gatherings. The walls are an armature for vine trellises so that the total effect is one of lushness. Because this terrace will lead into a conservatory someday, the theme of the plantings is tropical. Several tables, benches, and chairs are in the venue for visitors’ use.

The Poplar Court is a lawn venue enclosed by tall poplar trees immediately adjacent to the North Terrace. An inner rectangle of poplars provides a focal area where ceremonies may be staged or buffet tables may be arrayed. The trees outline the footprint of the future conservatory.

Shelter: The Poplar Court is open to the sky. Only small, weighted tents, such as those used by a caterer or trio of musicians, may be placed there because of the risk of harming the trees’ roots.

The Pollinator Plaza is an open, paved area in the Pollinator and Bird Garden. It is located just inside the main entrance to this three-acre area containing flower beds, a pond, wetlands, woodland, and dry meadow.
