Katelyn is a botanist with a passion for environmental education! She holds a bachelor of science in biology with a plant science emphasis from Minnesota State University, Mankato. In Minnesota, she worked for three years in plant ecophysiology labs, where she examined and catalogued plant characteristics. Katelyn also interned in prairie restoration and outreach, helping middle and high school students learn to recognize plants in the prairies they helped start. Katelyn enjoys recording and communicating the diversity of the natural world and is excited to work with the Arboretum’s extensive plant collections. In the future, she plans to work in university teaching and research support roles, and wants to be involved with arboreta, herbaria, and botanical gardens throughout her career. During her time at the Arboretum, Katelyn hopes to inspire visitors to learn from, and learn to recognize, the native plants they connect with.
