Director of The Arboretum at Penn State

The Arboretum seeks an individual with a strong record of effective leadership of a public garden, arboretum, or affiliated organization. The successful candidate must have experience with articulating an organizational vision and identifying and coalescing support for that vision. Experience in a research institution or an affinity and understanding of research activities and demonstrated success in working collaboratively across academic disciplines is preferred.  

The ideal candidate must have a proven track record of successful fundraising, as well as experience in working with a diverse range of supporters, including those within the local community and others with an interest in horticulture and education. Part-Time Natural Lands Program Assistant
Position #: REQ_0000024356

The Natural Lands Program Assistant is a part-time position housed within The Arboretum at Penn State. The incumbent works under the leadership of the Arboretum’s Director of Operations to plan, document, and coordinate day-to-day natural lands restoration activities. Primary focuses are the Arboretum’s Hartley Wood parcel and its Gerhold Wildflower Trail; and the adjacent prairie restoration site. In addition, the incumbent may assist with the planning and implementation of other projects located in the Arboretum’s natural areas. This is a paid part-time, year-round position, with a typical commitment of 20 hours/week during the academic year and up to 40 hours/week during the summer. Starting wage rate is $16/hour. Exact start date is negotiable.
