Join us for a free lecture on the indigenous gardening traditions of the Five Tribes (Cherokee, Choctaw, Myskogee-Creek, and Seminole), presented by the Penn State Department of Geography in partnership with the Indigenous Peoples’ Student Association. The speaker, Dr. Devon Mihesuah, is an award-winning author and expert on indigenous food sovereignty. Her presentation will discuss the traditional importance of small gardens and their potential role for food sovereignty, health, and well-being of modern communities.

Following the talk, learn more about the “Indigenous Connections through Pawpaw” project and try pawpaws grown at the Arboretum and tastes of a limited supply of pawpaw ice cream whipped up by Dr. Bob Roberts in the Department of Food Science.
