Cities of Goldenrod
Come join us to explore Cities of Goldenrod! This FREE program is geared toward children in grades K–6 and their families.
Children and adults will learn about ecological communities created by one of central Pennsylvania’s most common plants: goldenrod. Goldenrod and its plant neighbors host a rich diversity of animals — just like cities, except the skyscrapers are plants! Penn State scientists will guide children and parents or guardians as they explore ecological concepts like herbivore, predator, and pollinator through capture-and-release, show-and-tell, and coloring worksheets. All participants will enjoy getting outside to explore an old field and develop an appreciation for plants and animals.
Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is responsible for their supervision during the program.
Registration is required.
In order to maintain the safety of visitors and staff, programs may be canceled without notice in the event of severe weather.
