Jenny earned a bachelor of arts in social sciences from Penn State and a master of science in clinical and counseling psychology at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, PA. After working for several years as a master’s level clinician/drug and alcohol counselor in a rehab facility serving patients with both addiction and mental health issues, she decided to change careers and follow her true passion of horticulture. She began working outdoors in nurseries and a greenhouse before moving to the State College area in 2021.
While working as a landscape maintenance technician for a landscaping company, her love of the green industry was solidified. After a year of being a maintenance tech, she worked as groundskeeper and project manager for a hemp farm in Clinton County. In 2024, she began working as a volunteer at the Arboretum and, this summer, started to pursue another bachelor’s in the design/build option of the landscape contracting program at Penn State. She is excited to learn all she can by pursuing a formal education in the industry while learning hands on with the professionals at the Arboretum. She looks forward to working with others in the industry, students, and volunteers sharing the passion and love for horticulture at the Arboretum.
