Cultivating mushrooms may seem daunting but, armed with the right supplies and information, growing certain varieties can be a simple, fun, and rewarding project. On Sunday, May 1, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., join the Arboretum and Dr. John Pecchia, director of Penn State’s Mushroom Research Center, for a shiitake log workshop. We’ll meet at the Overlook Pavilion in the Arboretum where we will prepare and inoculate our own logs to take home. Following the workshop, we will walk to the nearby world-class Mushroom Research Center facilities for a tour. Fee: $40 per person. Advance registration required:

This workshop is preceded in April by a free webinar on the science and practice of mushroom cultivation on Thursday, April 7 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Advance registration required: A recording will be available for those unable to attend live.
