This plant, Aquilegia canadensis L. (wild columbine), is included in the floristic survey conducted by Daniel Laughlin, Penn State graduate student in ecology.
Thickets of honeysuckle and privet threaten to overwhelm the understory
of the Hartley Wood, suppressing native plants and degrading the natural
character of the woodlot.
Our restoration activities in the Hartley Wood are guided by
A Restoration Management Plan for the Hartley Wood in The
Arboretum at Penn State. This plan was
prepared as a required project for a master of forest resources degree
under the supervision of Kim Steiner.
